AAA: R.I. gas prices fall 2¢ to $3.069

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen over the past week, after 15 consecutive weeks of price increases, according to a report today from AAA Southern New England.
The auto club’s June 4 survey found self-serve regular unleaded gas averaging $3.069 per gallon in Rhode Island, 2 cents less than last week and 9 cents less than this week’s national average of $3.159.
Local prices, which had risen since the beginning of February, are still 65 cents per gallon higher than at the start of the year and 9 cents higher than the average price a year ago of $2.979 per gallon.
The range in prices for self-serve, unleaded regular at Rhode Island stations this week was 25 cents, from $2.959 to $3.209. Similar ranges were seen for most other grades.
Average self-serve prices this week for other grades of fuel were $3.199 for midgrade unleaded, $3.329 for premium unleaded and $2.939 for diesel.
