WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and The Advertising Council this month launched a national public service campaign designed to encourage adults to take a more proactive role in their own health care.
The campaign – dubbed “Questions are the Answer” – was created pro bono by ad agency McCann Erickson Detroit and includes TV, radio, print and Web ads directing audiences to a toll-free number, 1-800-931-AHRQ, and a Web site, www.ahrq.gov/questionsaretheanswer.

The idea is to encourage patients and caregivers to ask more questions, organizers said. The campaign Web site includes an interactive “Question Builder” that allows consumers to generate a customized list of questions for their health care providers, which they can bring to each appointment.
