The Amgen Foundation recently awarded a $46,200 grant to City Year Rhode Island’s Young Heroes Program. Representatives from Amgen’s Rhode Island facility presented the check to City Year at the organization’s monthly Breakfast of Champions.
“It is rewarding to hear about the community service projects taken on by the Young Heroes team and the efforts they are making to strengthen their neighborhoods,” said Kimball Hall, vice president of Rhode Island Operations at Amgen. “We are pleased that the Amgen Foundation is continuing its partnership with City Year Rhode Island, and look forward to witnessing the growth and achievement of a new class of Young Heroes,” she said.
The Young Heroes Program is a Saturday leadership and community service program run by City Year corps members for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. This most recent grant is a part of Amgen’s continuing support of City Year Rhode Island, to which Amgen has provided more than $130,000 in grant funding since 2006. •
