Amos House has been named a Champion in Action by Citizens Bank Rhode Island and WJAR-TV NBC 10. Amos House received this distinction in the work force development category for the first quarter of 2010. The award includes an unrestricted $25,000 grant, media coverage and volunteer support.
Amos House has provided job training and work force development programs since its establishment 34 years ago. These services are offered through its three businesses: More Than A Meal Catering, Friendship Café and Amos House Builds.
“This organization’s micro-businesses have gained statewide attention and are a national model for re-entry, job training, employment, social services and housing,” said Lisa Churchville, president and general manager of WJAR.
Ned Handy, president of Citizens Bank, Rhode Island said, “This award will help Amos House to continue to provide opportunities for those who are looking to find and keep stable employment by giving them the training and tools they need to succeed.” •
