NORTH KINGSTOWN – To kick off national migraine awareness month, the Association of Migraine Disorders will hold two public events Saturday, June 2.
The North Kingstown-based nonprofit will first host a panel discussion, “Hot Topics in Migraine,” at Skyline at Waterplace in Providence from 1 to 5:15 p.m. Subjects covered will include post-concussion syndrome and migraine, how to destigmatize migraine and a host of new therapies, including hormone treatments and cannabinoids. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required due to limited seating. Online registration can be found at AMDfundraiser.org.
Following the panel, the association will hold its annual awards dinner at 6 p.m. The event will be emceed by WJAR-TV NBC 10’s Barbara Morse Silva, with honorees including Carl Cincinnato, founder of the Migraine World Summit; Dr. Richard Lewis, vestibular migraine researcher at Harvard Medical School; Jaime Sanders, author of The Migraine Diva blog; and Lindsay Wetzel, author of a new children’s graphic novel on migraines.
