WARWICK – Bank Rhode Island has officially reopened one of its branches at a new location on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.

The new branch, which opened on Feb. 26, is at 265 Jefferson Blvd. It was previously located on Centreville Road.

Steven Parente, senior vice president and director of retail banking for Bank Rhode Island, said the bank is excited about the relocation.

“This is a great move for BankRI, and one we are extremely excited about,” Parente said. “While Jefferson Boulevard has experienced significant commercial growth in recent years, it has also traditionally been underserved from a banking standpoint. We feel our new location will change that. It’s an area with ongoing opportunity.”

The branch will primarily focus on boosting the company’s commercial banking line, which officials believe is a growing opportunity in that area of the city.

Nancy Lapre, with 35 years of experience in retail and business banking, will lead the new branch. Lapre has spent most of her career working in Warwick, according to a press release.

The bank, a subsidiary of Brookline Bancorp Inc. based in Boston, said the relocation did not result in any job losses.
