BankNewport financial literacy program benefits high school students

WARWICK – High school students from Coventry and West Warwick recently sat with representatives from BankNewport, who sponsored a youth financial literacy program to help students increase their understanding of managing personal finances and the importance of building a secure financial future.

In the session, more than 170 students learned about types and sources of credit, ways to establish good credit, and what encompasses credit reports and credit scores, among other subjects.

The course culminated in the Financial Education Fair sponsored by BankNewport on March 23 in Warwick, where students participated in an interactive, simulated budgeting exercise while communicating with local businesses.
