CENTRAL FALLS – Bristol County Savings Bank recently awarded a $25,000 grant to Blackstone Valley Community Health Care to finish constructing the third floor of its new Central Falls Neighborhood Health Station at 1000 Broad St.
The bank is headquartered in Taunton, with offices throughout Bristol County, Mass., and Rhode Island, including Pawtucket.
The neighborhood health station – the first of its kind in the United States – will offer comprehensive, high-quality, low-cost health care services to 85 percent of the Central Falls population in one location.
The $16 million project expands BVCHC’s existing Central Falls clinical space from 12,500 square feet to 47,000 square feet and will include 34 medical exam rooms, eight dental operatories, six behavioral health offices, a large community meeting room, a 340B contract pharmacy, an office for community partners and a fire department EMT office. The CFNHS will also feature on-site laboratory and radiology, occupational therapy and substance use treatment services provided by others in the community.
“I want to thank Bristol County Savings Bank for its commitment to our vision of a healthy community, one in which a clinical enterprise has the capacity to care for and provide a culture of health to the residents of Central Falls,” said Raymond Lavoie, executive director of Blackstone Valley Community Health Care. “We intend to get to know the residents and help them understand their health risks and how to use health services appropriately. We also intend to facilitate healthy environment and lifestyle choices built around healthy eating and physical activity as well as the connectedness of our neighbors.”
