CRANSTON – The newly appointed interim CEO of Eleanor Slater Hospital is taking on the role as the R.I. Department of Behavioral Health, Hospitals and Developmental Disabilities seeks to restructure the hospital.
Jennifer White, who now serves as chief financial officer at BHDDH, assumes her duties at Eleanor Slater on June 15.

“I am pleased that Jennifer White has agreed to take on this new role,” BHDDH Director Kathryn Power said. “Jennifer has a wealth of experience and expertise in finance and executive management, and her track record of accomplishment speaks volumes about the commitment and focus she will bring to Eleanor Slater Hospital.”
BHDDH will continue to look for a permanent CEO for the hospital, and is also planning to replace White as chief financial officer while she heads Eleanor Slater.
BHDDH Deputy Director Dr. Louis Cerbo has been tapped to assist White at the hospital by helping with restructuring plans and working with hospital staff and community leaders.
Cerbo served as administrator of adult psychiatric services at Eleanor Slater from 2003 to 2010.
Restructuring plans for the hospital include a shift toward providing services for people with behavioral health needs and developmental disabilities in less-restrictive settings, according to BHDDH.
As the agency searches for a new CEO, it plans to ask for feedback from patients, their families and others on future leadership at the hospital.
