WESTERLY – The Washington Trust Co. has been recognized by the Rhode Island Blood Bank for its participation in the blood bank’s Season Pass program. Washington Trust also received a print by local artist Domine Vescera Ragosta of Smithfield, which was produced exclusively for the center’s Season Pass program.
Washington Trust began sponsoring blood drives in October of 2003, and has hosted 29 drives since then, collecting 237 pints and helping to save 711 lives.
The Season Pass is a program in which the Rhode Island Blood Bank commissions a local artist, each year, to create a piece that only blood donors and sponsors are eligible to receive. Framed prints are awarded to companies that host four blood drives a year, March 1 to Feb. 29. Washington Trust sponsored eight blood drives in 2007. Individuals who donate four times in that 12-month period will also receive a print.
