The stores allow customers to choose and purchase a health plan, get help with a current plan, pay bills and participate in a care-management program.
Fitness classes, including yoga, tai chi, Pilates, Zumba and circuit training, are held at stores as well.
Blue Cross nurses are on hand at the sites, as well as other employees who can speak with customers about various plans.
“Our customers have told us they want to talk face to face with a representative when they have health plan questions or take free fitness classes that are convenient to them. There are times they also want advice from a health professional about an ongoing medical condition, [such as] diabetes,” said Melissa Cummings, executive vice president and chief customer officer for Blue Cross. “This is what our retail stores are able to do – bring health care into the community in ways that are truly differentiated.”
The Rhode Island stores have seen nearly 170,000 customer visits since 2014, according to Blue Cross.
The office is located at 1400 Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston.
