PROVIDENCE – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island announced that it has promoted Linda Winfrey to the position of vice president of internal audit and enterprise risk management. Before her recent promotion, Winfrey served the health insurance company as managing director of internal audit and enterprise risk management.

As chief auditor, Winfrey leads BCBSRI’s work related to providing assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and the strength of the control environment. In her new role, Winfrey will continue to oversee internal audit, enterprise risk management, external audits and quality monitoring efforts.

Before joining BCBSRI in 2003, Winfrey worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Warwick, and at CIGNA Corporation in Bloomfield, Conn. In addition to serving on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Quality Assurance Review Committee, she is a trustee of Stand Up For Animals, a nonprofit organization in Westerly.

Winfrey, a resident of Westerly, earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
