Since November 2017 there have been 15 boutique hotel construction and/or renovation projects completed or announced in three Ocean State communities. Combined, the projects in Newport, New Shoreham (Block Island) and Providence total 986 rooms and will all be on the market by 2021.

NEWPORT
•
The Newport Inn: renovation/new construction, $1.4 million; seven rooms, opened Nov. 2017.

Town & Tide Inn: renovation/new construction, $2.4 million; 12 rooms, opened in September 2018.

Pelham Street Inn: renovation/new construction, $1.4 million; seven rooms, opened in February.
•
Cliffside Inn: renovation, would not disclose cost; 16 rooms, opened May 1.
• The Outlook Inn: renovation/new construction, $2.2 million; 11 rooms, opened in late May.

Serenity Inn: renovation/new construction, $2.4 million; 12 rooms, to open July 3.
•
Paws on Pelham: renovation/new construction, $2.6 million; 13 rooms, to open in early August.

Hammetts Wharf Hotel: new construction underway, $29 million; 84 rooms, expected to open in 2020.
•
The Brenton Hotel: new construction, cost not disclosed; 57 rooms, to open in spring 2020.
•
The Fifth Element: new construction, project cost under negotiation; 40 rooms, estimated to open in spring 2021.
NEW SHOREHAM (BLOCK ISLAND)
•
Block Island Beach House: renovation underway of Surf Hotel, would not disclose cost; 31 rooms, to reopen July 1; and renovation underway of The Gables, would not disclose cost; 45 rooms, to open Memorial Day 2020.
PROVIDENCE
•
Graduate Providence, formerly the Providence Biltmore Hotel: rebranded and renovated, would not disclose cost; 294 rooms, reopened in early April.
•
Hotel Beatrice: new construction underway, $19.3 million; 48 rooms, to open on Dec. 31.
•
Hotel Hive: new construction, $39 million; 139 rooms, to open in about 20 months.
•
Aloft: new construction, $55 million; 170 rooms, to open in 2021.
