Bristol County grants nearly $30K

PAWTUCKET – Taunton-based Bristol County Savings Bank, through its charitable foundation, recently awarded $29,250 worth of grants to seven Pawtucket-area organizations.
The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation-Pawtucket Advisory Board donated $5,000 to Children’s Friend & Service, $2,000 to Gateway Healthcare, $10,000 to Highlander Dunn Institute, $2,500 to Pawtucket Arts Collaborative, $5,250 to Pawtucket Business Development Corp., $5,250 to Rhode Island Minority Elder Task Force and $2,000 to Shea High School.
Patrick Murray, executive vice president and treasurer of the bank and president of the foundation, awarded the grants along with Dennis Kelly, bank president and foundation chairman.
The Pawtucket arm of the Bristol County Savings’ charitable foundation was established in 2001, when the bank opened its Pawtucket branch.
At that time, $1 million was contributed to the Foundation to provide grants to 501C (3) organizations that operate exclusively for charitable purposes in Pawtucket. The foundation has donated approximately $867,712 to organizations in the Pawtucket area since its inception.
Pawtucket Advisory Board members include James Doyle, former mayor of Pawtucket and now vice president and business development officer at the bank; Mike Tamburro, president of the Pawtucket Red Sox; Ken Riley, bank assistant vice president; Dan Sullivan, president of Collette Vacations.
