NEW BEDFORD – Bristol County Savings Bank last week announced plans to open its third office in New Bedford.

The new banking space would include first-floor retail services, second-floor loan offices and other amenities, according to an announcement.

“Our commitment to New Bedford continues to grow,” said Patrick J. Murray Jr., president and CEO. “We have been searching for a downtown office location that would be convenient for our current and future customers and now that we have found one, we can look forward to becoming an even-more visible and vital part of the downtown community.”

The offices are in the Candleworks building at 72 North Water St. The building is owned by New Bedford Inc. Carmines Italian Ristorante will remain in the lower level of the building, according to the announcement.

The space is going through interior renovations, and the bank expects to open in the fall. Nancy Cabral will serve as branch manager.

Jon Mitchell, mayor of New Bedford, lauded the bank for choosing to expand its business in the downtown.

“New Bedford is pleased to welcome another office of Bristol County Savings Bank to the city, in the heart of downtown,” Mitchell said in a statement. “As downtown continues to grow, the branch will be an ideal location to serve its clients.”
