BOSTON — Broadband2Wireless has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection and
been granted permission to auction off its assets. The company, which had announced
plans for an extensive network of data centers said it had spent $7.3 million
building the centers, rooftop wireless transmitting units and microcell sites
and network gear for future services from Chicago to Miami and Tucson, the Boston
Globe reported. None of those sites ever went operational, the Globe said. Broadband
also reported $12 million in losses from February of last year through June 5
of this year.
