Cadence Education acquires 15 Children’s Workshop locations in R.I., Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Childhood education company Cadence Education, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., has acquired 15 of The Children’s Workshop locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, the company announced Tuesday.

The 15 schools acquired will be rebranded as Cadence Academy Preschool sometime in 2019.

The remaining six The Children’s Workshop locations not acquired by Cadence in Rhode Island and Massachusetts will remain open and operating, a Cadence spokeswoman confirmed.

The Children’s Workshop said in a statement that it was “undergoing a collaborative process with our remaining leadership team and school-based educators to further strengthen the family, community and educator supports that we have always been committed to offering.”

President & CEO of The Children’s Workshop, Bailey Kent, said in a statement Tuesday, “In the upcoming months, we will be closely assessing the needs of the children and families that will continue to be served by The Children’s Workshop and are passionate about increasing the difference that we make in their lives daily. With only six schools, our leadership support team is excited about being able to better tailor our programming to the individual needs of the communities we serve. In addition, we will be using our energy to strengthen the impact and services offered by the Children’s Workshop Foundation.”

The transaction closed Dec. 14, 2018.

The Children’s Workshop locations acquired in the transaction by Cadence include Rhode Island schools in Cranston, East Greenwich, Lincoln, North Kingstown, Smithfield and Westerly. The Massachusetts schools acquired are in Bourne, Hanover, North Attleboro, Norwood, Raynham, Seekonk, Waltham, West Bridgewater and Westborough.
