PORTSMOUTH – The vast Carnegie Abbey Club, including an 18-hole golf course, equestrian center, marina and clubhouse, is scheduled to be sold at a foreclosure auction on Dec. 4.

J.J. Manning Auctioneers is handling the sale, which is divided into components featuring the major property uses.

The sale is for the leasehold and fee interests, because the land itself is owned by the Portsmouth Abbey. The on-site auction is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4.

According to the auctioneer’s materials, the property is being sold in five lots.

The initial lot includes the golf course, a Scottish links-style course designed by Donald Steel with views of Narragansett Bay, and the equestrian center, which opened eight years ago and has both indoor and outdoor riding rings, as well as a large barn.

The second grouping involves the 41-slip marina on the property.

The third grouping is a 6.2-acre parcel intended for a 36-unit condominium development.

The fourth grouping is a 2.5-acre parcel with the potential for three house lots.

The final grouping would be the entirety of the property, according to the auctioneer.

The mortgage holder is Bank of New England.
