What is the biggest challenge currently facing your industry and how are you responding to it? The issue of affordability when it comes to utility bills. The cost of energy supply across New England is higher than in many parts of the country, mostly due to global and wholesale market forces beyond our control. I’m focused on finding solutions that advance the state’s energy, economic and environmental goals in an affordable manner.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Still in Rhode Island, still working in energy and environment, just with five years’ more experience and wisdom.
What was your first job? Au Bon Pain in the local mall’s food court.
What led you to pursuing a career in your current industry? I committed to the field of energy and environment when I skipped class on a whim to attend a conference on climate change. I stayed in this industry because of the meaningful work I get to do every day with people who care.
