PROVIDENCE – E. Elizabeth Carter has been named the executive director of Rhode Island Business Competition, the organization announced Wednesday.
Carter succeeds Peter Lowy, who has served the competition since the organization’s launch in 2000, the last five as executive director. Lowy was said to be stepping down to pursue strategy and marketing consulting assignments. Carter’s appointment was effective Sept. 1.
Carter is a human capital leadership and development specialist, Rhode Island Business Competition said, and is currently the owner of Carter Consultants Ltd., an international executive search firm, and Beth Carter Enterprises, a corporate training and coaching company.
“We are extremely thankful to Peter for his years of dedication and support to the Rhode Island Entrepreneurial ecosystem. His leadership and direction have been instrumental in the success of the Rhode Island Business Competition,” said Margaret “Peggy” Farrell, partner at Hinckley Allen & Snyder LLP and co-chair of RIBC.
