CEF announces 2017 scholarship recipients

WARWICK – A total of $25,500 in scholarships and sponsorship awards was presented by the Cianci Educational Foundation to 10 recipients at an event on May 12.

The sponsorship recipients were:

  • Hasbro Children’s Hospital ($2,500): Ryan Whalen from Hasbro Children’s Hospital accepting
  • Trinity Repertory ($2,500): Natalie Dreyer and David Azulay from Trinity accepting
  • Providence Public Library ($1,500): Mathew Delaire from PPL accepting

The scholarship recipients were:

Sons of Italy ($1,000 each):

  • Bobby Colantonio, who will be attending the University of Alabama
  • Joseph Pallazzo, who will be attending the University of Rhode Island

Nicole B. Cianci Scholarships ($1,000 each):

  • School One: Olivia Renza
  • Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts: Jerimiah Matos

Foundation Scholarship winners ($5,000 each, $2,500 awarded for the first two years of college)

  • Moses Brown School: Abbey Mansollilo
  • LaSalle Academy: Tara Cameron
  • Classical High School: Jean Inoa

“In furthering the mission of the Cianci Educational Foundation and honoring Buddy’s legacy, the board of directors and I [are] thrilled to be able to assist so many students and sponsor such worthy causes” said Dr. Brad Turchetta, the late former Providence Mayor Vincent A. “Buddy” Cianci’s nephew and chairman of the organization’s board of directors.
