PROVIDENCE – The National Children’s Study, the largest research initiative into children’s health ever conducted in the U.S., will follow 100,000 children, including 1,000 children in Providence County.
The study will follow the children over a period of 21 years to identify root causes of childhood diseases such as asthma, autism, diabetes and obesity. The study is expected to change the course of children’s health, since it will examine environmental factors including air, soil, water, family health,and communities in which children grow up
In Rhode Island, the study is administered by Brown University and Women & Infants Hospital. •
