Claflin partners with EMR provider

WARWICK – Claflin Medical Equipment, a division of Warwick-based Claflin Co., has partnered with Aprima Medical Software of Dallas to integrate Aprima’s electronic medical record and practice management software with Claflin’s medical equipment.
The idea is to simplify doctors’ and other medical providers’ work flow by allowing them to feed data directly from devices such as an electrocardiogram machine into Aprima’s software. The deal could vastly expand Aprima’s market; Claflin has more than 10,000 customers.
“The agreement with Claflin broadens Aprima’s ability to advance the practice of medicine beyond the [EMR],” said Michael Nissenbaum, president and CEO of Aprima, in a news release. “Claflin is a well-established and credible supplier with a storied name. We are delighted it has selected our [EMR] and practice management solution as the one it wants to bring to its customers.”
The companies said they entered into the agreement in November 2009 and plan to market the integrated solution to existing Claflin customers and to new customers. According to Aprima, its “template-free” design makes its software easier to adapt to doctors’ existing protocols, and its flexible pricing “makes sense for everyone from a solo rural practitioner to a multi-specialty urban practice.”
“We are extremely excited to partner with Aprima,” said Mike Abbott, Claflin’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Aprima’s technology and commitment to service give us [a software] provider that we are proud to recommend and endorse to our clients.”
