College Choice names UMass Dartmouth 16th-best online liberal arts school

PROVIDENCE – The Dartmouth campus of the University of Massachusetts was ranked No. 16 in College Choice’s 25 Best Online Liberal Arts Colleges for 2017.

In its description of the criteria measured, College Choice noted some schools on the list are “large, elite research universities” while others are smaller, less well-known schools, but all “are the best at giving students a foundation in core liberal arts principles and concepts.”

UMass Dartmouth, according to the description on the ranking, was listed favorably because of its flexible and affordable programs. The bachelor or liberal arts programs were specifically highlighted for their broad scope and development of communication, assessment and decision-making, critical thinking and analysis, and the ability to work independently and productively.

The top online liberal arts school according to the 2017 list is Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore., followed by Pennsylvania State University World Campus in Centre County, Pa. (No. 2) and Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. (No. 3).

In addition, UMass Lowell was named the No. 13 top online liberal arts school by College Choice.
