WOONSOCKET – CVS Health Corp. has donated $1 million to local nonprofits from its CVS Health Charity Classic, the company announced Tuesday.
The funds from the golf tournament charity program will be distributed to 78 nonprofits in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts, including Crossroads Rhode Island, The American Heart & Stroke Association and City Year.

“Through the Charity Classic, we can provide essential funding to target critical needs within the community,” said Eileen Howard Boone, tournament chairperson of the CVS Health Charity Classic, in a statement. “We are so pleased to be able to support the remarkable work of these nonprofits in their efforts to help enhance education, health care and social services in local communities.”
CVS also set the date for the kickoff of 2019’s CVS Health Charity Classic as June 20.
CVS said the most recent $1 million brings its Charity Classic fundraising to an all-time $22 million.
