WOONSOCKET – CVS Health Corp. will offer prescription delivery within hours from CVS Pharmacy nationwide through a partnership with delivery service Shipt Inc., CVS announced Thursday.

The service will cost $7.99 for same-day delivery. The pharmacy already offers one-to-two-day delivery for $4.99. The same day service will be available from 6,000 locations for eligible prescriptions.

“A year ago CVS Pharmacy redefined convenience for customers by introducing prescription delivery nationwide in order to extend the connection that our trusted, local pharmacists provide to their customers at our nearly 10,000 locations around the country,” stated Kevin Hourican, president of CVS Pharmacy, in a prepared statement. “Today we’ve taken another step forward by expanding same-day delivery nationwide and enhancing the experience with our On-Demand delivery service.”

CVS said that in addition to prescriptions, the service will also allow customers to order household items from its retail division, including cold and flu remedies, allergy medications, pain relief, first aid, digestive health, vitamins, baby, personal and feminine care products, the company said.
