PROVIDENCE – A Rhode Island Senate commission has launched a new website to address the issue of cyberbullying and cyberthreats, www.stopbullyingri.com.
The website, announced on Dec. 9, aims to provide information to local citizens including news releases on the cyberbullying commission’s activities, links to legislation, video coverage of the commission’s meetings and contacts for individuals in the community who have a personal or professional interest in the subject.
The website was fully funded by Sen. John J. Tassoni Jr., D-Smithfield, who is serving as chairman of the commission studying cyberthreats, cyberbulling, bullying and sexting.
The commission has held hearings at schools in Cranston, North Providence and Smithfield.
“The commission has been making great efforts to obtain as much information and testimony as possible, by taking meetings out into the communities, giving individuals with something to say on this important topic the opportunity to do so,” said Tassoni. “But we want to make sure that good information is also going out about this matter, and give people who can’t make it to meetings a means to communicate their information and opinions to us.”
The commission said it expects to report its findings to the Senate by the end of March.
