PROVIDENCE – Daniel DeCosta has been promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer at BayCoast Bank, which has locations in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In his new executive role, he will be responsible for all information technology and computer systems.
DeCosta started at the bank’s IT department in 2001, while still in school.
He came back each summer to work in the financial institution and was hired part-time in the IT department in his senior year of college, according to a press release. In 2005, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business information systems at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. After graduation, he was hired full-time at the bank as a network administrator.
In 2012, DeCosta was promoted to IT officer/client services followed by a promotion to assistant vice president and IT manager in 2014, and vice president/IT manager in 2015. Continuing through the ranks, in 2016 he took over the responsibility of e-commerce and information systems responsibilities in addition to IT and was promoted to first vice president and CIO.
“Even starting as a student intern, it was clear he was destined for leadership roles,” said Nicholas Christ, president and CEO, BayCoast Bank.
