Design Exchange finds tenant

PAWTUCKET – Designs by Lolita moved into 2,500 square feet in the Design Exchange on Thursday.
The designer of glasses and gift merchandise becomes the first tenant in the building owned by the architectural firm Lerner Ladds + Bartels Inc. The firm, which renovated the former mill and moved to the top floor in July, has been looking for tenants to fill the lower levels.
Principal Kathy Bartels said the aim is to fill the two middle floors with companies with creative bents. The ground floor, under the control of the former owner, is likely to become retail, a coffee shop or some combination, she said.
“We’re just so excited because [Lolita] fits with our concept we’re trying to develop here,” Bartels said.
The architecture firm’s real estate firm, Residential Properties, brought the firm and Lolita together.
“As a designer, you take a lot of inspiration from the environment,” said Lolita Healy, founder of Designs by Lolita. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity of seeing how this creative space is reflected in my future designs.”
