PROVIDENCE – A Cambridge, Mass. developer with a background in hotels is scheduled to speak with the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission Monday about a project that could develop a small site on the eastern side of the Providence River.

Later, the agenda indicates the commission is scheduled to vote on the Phase 1, or initial application, for the proposed development. Further details were not available Friday.
The site, identified on the commission agenda as Parcel 1A, is north of the pedestrian bridge now under construction. It is one of the smaller sites in the I-195 district, at 0.28 acres. Construction for that parcel would be limited to four stories in height, or 50 feet, under the development standards.
In Cambridge, Gerald Fandetti and his wife, artist Charlotte Forsythe, in 2000 redeveloped the then-vacant Engine 7 Firehouse into The Kendall Hotel, a boutique hotel containing 73 guest rooms and four luxury suites, according to a history published on the hotel website.
In the mid-1990s, they had renovated an 1843 mansion in Harvard Square into the Mary Prentiss Inn, a boutique hotel that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Kendall Hotel building, also listed on the national register, was renovated beginning in 2000 and expanded with a seven-story tower to accommodate guests. It opened in 2002, and was enlarged again in 2007 with another seven-story tower, containing suites and larger guest rooms, according to the business website.
The details of the Fandetti proposal for Providence were not available Friday. A call to the company’s office was not immediately returned.
