PROVIDENCE – Construction on the new labor and delivery center and Women’s Health Research Institute at Women & Infants Hospital is expected to begin in the fall, according to the company that will serve as construction manager for the work.
Dimeo Construction Co. was selected by Women & Infants to oversee the $28 million project, the company announced on Aug. 17.
E4H Environments for Health, based in Boston, is the architect.
Work on the three-story addition to the hospital is expected to be nearly complete by December of 2024. Once finished, Women & Infants’ labor and delivery center will include 20 new labor and delivery rooms along with new nurses’ stations, a staff lounge and locker area, and offices.
“Our organization has enjoyed a long relationship with Women & Infants Hospital stretching back to construction of the original hospital,” said Brad Dimeo, CEO and president of Dimeo Construction. “We are excited to be a part of the team on this important state-of-the-art medical and research facility.”
