CRANSTON — WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care presented Robert Donovan, executive director of the Rhode Island Health and Educational Building Corporation with the June Rockwell Levy Annual Public Health Service Award at its annual fundraiser at the Cranston Country Club Sept. 26.
The award went to both Robert Donovan and RIHEBC. The June Rockwell Levy Annual Public Health Service Award is presented annually to an individual or organization that either through a specific action during a subject year or through a culmination of efforts over a number of years through legislative action, policy development, advocacy, direct patient care, leadership or through other means, has had a demonstrable positive impact on advancing the cause of public health in Rhode Island.

The award is named for June Rockwell Levy, a philanthropist that served as Northwest’s (currently named WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care) board president for 51 consecutive years.
“Over the past 13 years, as a result of RIHEBC’s support and confidence in WellOne, WellOne has been able to stabilize its finances, strengthen its balance sheet and serve thousands more Rhode Islanders than would have otherwise been possible,” stated Peter J. Bancroft, president and CEO of WellOne. “In 2007, RIHEBC provided loans that led to the successful merging between WellOne and a health center in North Kingstown that was in serious financial straits. It gives me great pleasure to give him and his staff this award.”
