Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Providence Community Health Centers Inc.
What is the biggest challenge currently facing your industry and how are you responding to it? Recruitment and retention of all staff, but particularly primary care clinicians; improving funding and reimbursement of critical clinical services; and managing the increasing complexity in primary care. I work with members of my executive team on a state and federal government level to bring attention to these issues. Locally, I lean on my clinical team and my experiences as a clinician to understand the daily challenges and develop solutions that meet the needs of the clinicians, patients and organization as a whole.
What is the best advice you have ever received? My mom has always said, “We can deal with anything, as long as it’s the truth.”
Where do you see yourself in five years? I envision continuing to grow and develop my skills to enhance the experiences of primary care clinicians and our patients.
What moment changed your life more than any other? Accepting a job at PCHC right out of residency and moving to Rhode Island.
What is your favorite Rhode Island food or drink? I love a good party pizza.
What is your preferred source for national news? I listen to MSNBC and CNN, and when I want an entertaining opinion on a news topic – Jon Stewart, John Oliver, “The Breakfast Club” and “The View.”
