Five Questions With: Tiffany J. Cahill

Tiffany J. Cahill was recently named branch manager of Bristol County Savings Bank’s branch office at 215 Armistice Blvd. in Pawtucket. She brings nearly 10 years of banking experience in both the consumer- and business-banking segments.

Previously, the Cranston resident held a leadership position at Citizens Bank, including business-banking relationship manager and business-relationship support specialist, as well as assistant manager and branch business banker in Warwick. She also holds a professional membership with the Rhode Island Builders Association, based in East Providence.

PBN: As branch manager, would you elaborate on what your duties involve?

CAHILL: Regarding branch operations, I ensure proper procedures and protocols are followed for all day-to-day branch functions, including account openings and servicing.

My customer relations work involves building relationships via branch interactions, outreach and community service while new business development includes sourcing, calling and visiting business owners in the Greater Pawtucket area and identifying how we can best help their businesses grow.

PBN: Before landing your new position, what was your job?

CAHILL: Prior to coming to Bristol County Savings Bank, I was a business-relationship manager for Citizens Bank. My focus was working with business owners to identify and address opportunities and offer banking services that addressed those needs. I managed a book of approximately 160 to 175 businesses at all times and covered five branches in northern Rhode Island. I was with Citizens for 10 years and held a variety of other roles ranging from back office support to branch management.

PBN: How did you come to work for Bristol County Savings Bank?

CAHILL: I had heard of the bank’s community focus, as well as its charitable work, via a connection at The Pawtucket Foundation. I was told about the actual position by Susan Farley, another branch manager at Bristol County Savings Bank.

Susan had a lot of great things to say about the bank and its overall culture. I was particularly excited to hear the bank had recently opened a loan office in Warwick and has plans to expand further into Rhode Island in the near future. Since starting my job at Bristol, Susan has become a mentor and a valued source of support.

PBN: What’s the one thing about working in banking that you enjoy most?

CAHILL: I’m a people person. I like to feel like I am helping. When you assist a customer, whether it be business or personal banking, they remember who helped them overcome an obstacle. Many of my customers have become friends over the years. I like to think I leave things in a better position than how I found them and that is the experience I want for each of my customers.

PBN: Why did you become a member of the Rhode Island Builders Association?

CAHILL: My grandfather was in construction when I was growing up. I remember how much he struggled with managing his business at times. Looking back, his challenges really stemmed from a lack of support. There were no formal places to go get answers. Rhode Island Builders Association offers that support, including training and certification management. They also participate in initiatives that provide vocational programs for students and housing for veterans.

Ultimately, the association’s actions reflect a number of my own core values. Being a member has also given me a platform in which to become an advocate and ally for businesses similar to my grandfather’s.
