PROVIDENCE – Foreclosure rates in the Providence-New Bedford-Fall River area increased in June when compared to the same month last year, according to CoreLogic.
The foreclosure rate of outstanding mortgage loans in the three-city area was 2.99 percent, an increase of 0.59 percentage points compared to June 2010 when the rate was 2.4 percent, the real estate tracking firm said.

Foreclosure activity in the area was lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 3.46 percent for June 2011, representing a 0.47 percentage point difference.
The mortgage delinquency rate declined slightly, with 7.18 percent of loans delinquent for 90 or more days in June, compared to 7.78 percent a year earlier.
In Rhode Island, the 90-day delinquency rate was at 7.33 percent in June compared to 7.92 percent a year earlier. Foreclosure rate was 3.29 percent in 2011, an increase from 2.44 percent last June.
