PROVIDENCE – The vacant Italianate structure that was the early 20th-century home of the Providence Journal is back on the market.
The listing by Everett, Mass.-based Thibeault Development has an undisclosed asking price. The property is paired with the adjoining Kresge Building, and is being advertised as suitable for residential, hospitality, office or retail purposes, according to the listing.

“Downtown Providence Redevelopment Project Ready to Go,” the ad states. “The building is free of tenants and ready for buildout.” The listing agent could not be reached for comment this week.
The ornate building referred to as the old Providence Journal building is at 213 Westminster St. and was built in 1902. The adjoining Kresge Building dates to 1920, and is at 187 Westminster St.
Both properties were purchased for a combined $2,325,000 by limited liability companies affiliated with Thibeault Development in March 2016, according to deed records. The sale price for the former newspaper offices was $1.8 million. The sale price for the Kresge Building was $532,878, according to the records.
At the time of the sales, William Thibeault, identified as manager of the LLCs, said his plan was to redevelop the historic buildings for new tenants.
