The Nondas Hurst Voll Fund was established at The Rhode Island Foundation in 2006 to enable The Fund for Community Progress to award financial support to single mothers to begin or continue studies in higher education. It was established through an endowment from Dr. Karen Haskell, retired Dean of Students at Roger Williams University, to honor her friend and activist for peace and social justice for whom the scholarship is named. Nondas served as Executive Director of The Fund for Community Progress for fourteen years, retiring in 2006.
Applications for 2015 scholarships will open in February 2015. All applications are due by mid-April. For more information about the Nondas Hurst Voll Fund please visit The Fund for Community Progress website at: www.fundcp.org.
