To some, dust is a nuisance.
But to those who appreciate the cosmos, it is debris from comets, asteroids, moons and planets, tiny particles of extraterrestrial material.
So, with a renewed fascination with the extraterrestrial and the increasing popularity of golf, The Dusty Planet, a new business in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, is an exercise in good timing.
Doug Abelow and Hannah Abelow, owners, artists and siblings, designed the indoor miniature golf course with space-themed aliens and disco balls.
Since its grand opening – which coincided with National Mini Golf Day on May 10 – The Dusty Planet invited everyone to enjoy not only mini golf but also arcade games and special events.
Groups of more than 12 can reserve private events, with unlimited mini golf and custom catering options. The bar offers snacks, soft drinks and local craft beers from Moniker Brewery and Long Live Brewery, along with table games and pinball machines.
Characterizing the space as “a nine-hole space adventure,” Doug Abelow said he’s proud of the fact that The Dusty Planet is the only galactic-themed venue in Providence.
“We are having a lot of fun down here,” he said.
