NORTH SMITHFIELD – Saint Antoine Residence, a 260-bed skilled nursing facility, announced last week that it has been awarded a $770,000 grant from the Manton Foundation to implement an electronic medical records system.
All facilities receiving federal payments, including Medicaid reimbursements, must have electronic medical records in place by 2014. The goal is to reduce medical errors and improve efficiency and quality.
“We are overjoyed to have received this award,” said Wendy Fargnoli, Saint Antoine’s executive director, in a news release. “Like most nursing homes, we have many technology needs. However, an [electronic medical records] system is at the top of our list because, in the end result, it will help many people with our provision of care.”
Established in 1913, Saint Antoine Residence provides long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, Alzheimer’s/dementia care and hospice care. It employs close to 400 people and engages more than 150 volunteers. For more information, go to www.stantoine.net.
