Greschner to head municipal finance

PROVIDENCE – The, R.I. Department of Revenue Division of Municipal Finance will be getting a new boss this month.
Susanne Greschner will assume the role on April 26, according to a joint statement issued by Gov. Donald L. Carcieri and Department Director Rosemary Booth Gallogly. Greschner, a Warwick resident, has been employed by the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council since 2001.
She will fill the position vacated by Peder Schaefer, who stepped down in February.
“Ms. Greschner’s strong financial and analytical skills, and her extensive knowledge of local finance matters, including education funding, local pension obligations and local retiree medical benefit obligations make her well suited for this position,” Gallogly said.
The division provides guidance to municipalities in complying with state law, encourages cooperation between municipalities and the state, and calculates, evaluates and distributes state aid. •
