PAWTUCKET – Tiger Electronics, a division of the Pawtucket-based toy manufacturer Hasbro, has partnered with Gibson USA to introduce the Power Tour Electric Guitar, a product targeting middle-school-age children.

The guitar helps children learn to play guitar by playing 12 pre-loaded songs or by plugging in an MP3 player and playing along to their favorite tunes.

“We are ‘amped’ to introduce a very real, very cool, musical instrument,” said Jeff Jackson, vice president of marketing for Tiger Electronics. “Most kids are easily discouraged at how hard it is to learn to play the guitar and often give up. With the Power Tour Electric Guitar, tweens enjoy a sense of empowerment and accomplishment as they learn to play real rock songs.”

Songs pre-loaded into the product include classic rock anthems such as “Wild Thing,” “Smoke on the Water” and “Breaking the Law,” as well other rock originals. Once a song is selected, the guitar will light up at the spots where fingers should be placed, so tweens can play at their own speed, hitting the right notes at the right time.
