DARTMOUTH – Starting fall 2018 students enrolled at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will be able to pursue bachelor’s degrees in health care and public administration, the University announced Friday.
The decision to prioritize health care and public administration studies, said a university spokesperson, was “directly reflect[ive] of the needs of the community.”

He added: “This is a good opportunity to link what we do on campus with impacts on the community.”
Studies in the health and society degree program will range from hospital administration to policy analysis.
Participants in the public administration degree program will have a choice of graduating with either a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts degree. Those interested in management and analyst positions will culminate their studies with a bachelor of science degree and those preferring careers with more public-facing responsibilities will pursue a bachelor of arts.
Enrollment in the two programs – health and society and public administration – will commence in fall 2018. The programs build on preexisting curricula in UMass Dartmouth’s sociology and anthropology, women and gender studies, political science, economics, English, history, philosophy and psychology departments.
