
SHIRLEY, Mass. – Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell early Wednesday, according to numerous news reports.
Hernandez was serving a life sentence after being convicted of the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd and recently had been found not guilty in the 2012 homicides of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

According to WJAR-TV NBC 10, corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley found Hernandez hanged in his prison cell at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday. He was transported to UMass Leominster Hospital and pronounced dead an hour later.
WJAR reports that corrections officials say Hernandez attached a bed sheet to his cell window and hanged himself.
