Imaging company gets ACR accreditation

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island Medical Imaging was awarded a gold-seal, three-year term of accreditation in breast magnetic-resonance imaging by the American College of Radiology. It is the state’s first outpatient imaging facility to be awarded this accreditation.
MRI’s of the breast offer valuable information about many conditions that may not be obtained by other imaging modalities, such as mammography or ultrasound.
The gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety, awarded following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality-control procedures and quality-assurance programs are assessed. &#8226
