Providence — The Rhode Island Carbon Pricing and Green Jobs Coalition will host an information session about the upcoming Energize Rhode Island: Carbon Pricing and Clean Energy Investment Act on March 14. It will be held in the Urban Environmental Laboratory of Brown University at 1pm. As part of the session, Brown undergraduate Solomon Goldstein-Rose and Professor J. Timmons Roberts will describe the background and details of the Energize Rhode Island Act, an exciting new bill designed to reduce fossil fuel emissions and promote clean energy.

About the Energize Rhode Island Act

The bill would put a price on fossil fuels when they enter the state and reinvest the revenue in clean energy, including weatherization projects for low-income households and small businesses. In doing so, it will provide a simple and direct method to achieve the emissions reduction targets set by the Resilient Rhode Island Act of 2014. It would also make Rhode Island a national leader in addressing global warming. The bill was recently introduced in the Rhode Island Senate by Senator Walter S. Felag, and will soon be introduced in the Rhode Island House of Representatives by Rep. Daniel P. McKiernan.
