Jay Leno buys most of Seafair mansion for $13.5M

NEWPORT – Four units in the Seafair mansion at 254 Ocean Ave. in Newport have been sold for a combined $13.5 million to Mavis House LLC.

The mansion was built in 1936 and in 2016 was listed for sale in its entirety for $19 million.

Attorney Michael W. Miller, the resident agent for Mavis House LLC, signed on behalf of James “Jay” Leno, according to a resale certificate filed with the city of Newport.

Mavis House LLC, registered in Rhode Island, is headquartered in Burbank, Calif., adjacent to Leno’s Big Dog Garage.

Leno’s spouse is Mavis Elizabeth Nicholson-Leno.

Units A, C, D and E of the mansion were sold to Mavis House LLC in two transactions recorded on Nov. 30.

Unit A of the mansion was purchased for $3 million from Branch Canyon Properties Inc., while units C, D and E were purchased for $10.5 million from Richard L. Bready, president of Branch Canyon Properties.
