NEWPORT – The “Bird House,” the property owned by the late Campbell’s Soup heiress Dorrance H. Hamilton, has sold for $9 million to Judy Sheindlin, better known as television personality Judge Judy, and her husband, Jerry, to mark the highest sale in Rhode Island this year, according to Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty Tuesday.

Located at 70 Beacon Hill Road, the home sold in just under a year for $1.9 million under the asking price of $10.9 million.

The home includes six bedrooms, six full and two partial bathrooms and 9,719 square feet of living space. Spanning 3.7 acres, the property also features a two-story entrance hall, a living room with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and panoramic ocean views, heated floors and a three-stop elevator.

According to Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty, Sheindlin said she and her husband are “looking forward to falling in love with Newport.”
