PROVIDENCE – The Lifespan health care system has been named one of the Top 100 Integrated Health Networks in the United States, placing at No. 87 on a ranking from SDI, a data and analytics firm. This is the seventh time that Lifespan has made the list, which was started in 1994.
SDI rates health care networks on their performance level and degree of integration in eight categories, including clinical integration, technology integration and use, services offered, financial stability and physician participation.
Lifespan was one of only seven health systems in New England to make the list. The top-rated network in the nation was Sentara Healthcare, of Norfolk, Va. The top-rated New England network was Baystate Health, of Springfield, Mass., which was ranked 18th. The Yale New Haven Health System in New Haven, Conn., came in at No. 57, while the Cambridge Health Alliance, of Cambridge, Mass., came in at No. 86, and the Lahey Clinic, of Burlington, Mass., was rated No. 89. No other Rhode Island, Connecticut or Massachusetts network made the list.
In a news release, Lifespan President and CEO George Vecchione said the company was pleased to earn the distinction again, “which recognizes our continued progress toward integrating safety and quality throughout our four hospitals.”
“We have implemented system-wide initiatives, such as electronic health records, medication safety and computerized physician order entry, and have centralized many functions,” he said, “thereby allowing our hospitals to focus on providing even better care for our patients.”
