PROVIDENCE – Over the next two months the Lippitt House Museum will be busy hosting two events open to the public.
On Thursday, Oct. 12, “Lost Providence” author and former Providence Journal columnist David Brussat will discuss his new book, which chronicles the history of the capital city’s urban development. The event begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception and the talk commences at 7. Tickets are $5 per person and free for Preserve Rhode Island members.

Learn MoreThe final event of the Lippitt House Museum’s fall calendar is a behind-the-scenes tour. Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, guests are invited to learn more about “the other half” – servants living and working in the Victorian-era mansion. The tour is led by museum director Carrie Taylor and tickets are $15 per person and available online.
Built in 1865 for former Rhode Island Gov. Henry Lippitt, the house was home to four generations of his family. In addition to weekly hours on Fridays from 1-5 p.m., the museum offers programs, lectures and special tours.
