PROVIDENCE – The Dr. Armand Patrucco Endowed Scholarship Fund, which helps cover an in-state Rhode Island College student’s tuition for one year, received a $200,000 donation from its founders, RIC alumni Mark and Pam Mancini, earlier this summer.

Established in 2001, over the past three years the fund has awarded more than $9,000 to students in financial need and demonstrating “similar character and commitment to that of Patrucco.”

The Mancinis started the fund in honor of Armand Patrucco, their former history professor at RIC, for his “great commitment, strong character and positive influence” on students during his 34 years at the college.

In recognition of the Mancinis’ donation, RIC President Frank D. Sánchez said in a statement: “Rhode Island College is both grateful and honored by Mark and Pam’s generous contribution. … Their deep understanding of RIC, our values, students and faculty is a strong testament to our alumni.”
